Start with the story behind the offer

A brand story is more than a slogan. It explains what a business cares about, who it serves and why its work matters. When social content starts with those foundations, individual posts have a clearer purpose. They can look different, use different formats and speak to different moments while still sounding like the same organisation.

At Publicité Privée, storytelling sits alongside an understanding of each client’s audience and business. The useful question is not simply “What should we post?” It is “What should someone understand about this brand after spending time with us?”

Make your audience specific

A general audience creates general content. Begin with the people you want to reach and the situations in which your brand becomes relevant to them. Consider their questions, the language they use and the information they need before taking a next step.

A new visitor may need an introduction. Someone comparing options may need clearer explanations or a closer look at the service. Existing customers may value practical guidance and a sense of continuity. These are different conversations, even when they belong to one brand.

Define a voice people can recognise

Choose a small set of useful voice principles. A brand might be clear, thoughtful and welcoming; another may be direct, energetic and playful. Give each principle a practical meaning. “Clear” could mean short explanations, familiar words and a specific next step.

Include examples of language that fits and language that does not. This helps different writers and designers make consistent choices without turning every post into the same sentence. Voice should guide the work, rather than remove its personality.

Build a few repeatable content themes

Content themes create a connection between your story and your publishing plan. They can include what you do, how you approach the work, what your audience wants to understand and the ideas that shape your business.

Keep the themes broad enough to support different formats but specific enough to be useful. A service explanation, a visual process story and a practical answer to a customer question can all express the same brand position from different angles. The aim is a recognisable direction with room for variety.

Let design support the message

Visual consistency does not require identical layouts. A considered palette, a reliable type hierarchy and a clear approach to imagery can give a collection of posts a shared identity. The composition can then change according to the message.

Start with the main point. Decide what someone should notice first, what they should understand next and what they can do afterwards. Avoid asking every visual element to compete for attention. Strong design makes the story easier to follow, whether the post is an introduction, an announcement or an explanation.

Connect the channels without copying them

The same idea can travel across channels, but the presentation should respect each context. A short visual post may introduce a thought; a longer article can explore it; a website page can help someone evaluate a service in more detail.

Keep the core message aligned while adapting the format, depth and next step. This gives people continuity without making every interaction repetitive. It also gives the team a shared source of ideas instead of treating each channel as a separate brand.

Review the whole conversation

Look at a group of posts together, rather than judging each one in isolation. Is the offer understandable? Does the tone feel consistent? Are useful questions being answered? Is there a natural path from interest to a relevant page or conversation?

Use those observations to refine the plan. A consistent voice develops through deliberate choices and regular review, not a single perfect document. If your brand needs a clearer connection between identity, content and social activity, start with one conversation about your audience and the story you want to tell.
